Livingston’s The Story Continues Tour rolled through Boston last week, turning Royale into a multigenerational party. From parents hoisting their kids onto their shoulders to childless millennials vibing with their friends, the crowd ranged from around age 7 to 85 – proof of the universal connection his music inspires.

Opening the show was Braden Bales, who was introduced with pre-recorded narration that detailed his journey so far. It wasn’t long before the audience lit up with recognition as a clip of Chronically Cautious, a song that blew up on TikTok, started playing. A fan near the front even shouted out a request for CINNAMON TWISTS, and despite it not being on the original setlist, Bales and his team made it happen. It was a small moment, but one that clearly meant a lot to the fan and to Bales himself.

Livingston’s entrance was met with eager anticipation, but the night’s most emotional moment came when fans held up neon green paper hearts during his song Neon. The project, organized organically by the fanbase, made the 22-year-old singer-songwriter emotional, and the audience could feel the weight of it. For an artist who started by producing songs in his childhood bedroom, this was one of those I’ve made it moments.

An iPhone is being held by a fan in the crowd, showing Livingston through the phone screen.

Performing songs from the deluxe edition of his debut album A Hometown Odyssey (The Story Continues), Livingston delivered a set that was both anthemic and intimate, showing exactly why he was chosen as MTV’s PUSH Artist for April 2025. With over 600 million global streams and sold-out tours across North America and Europe under his belt, his upward trajectory is undeniable, but it’s his genuine connection with fans that sets him apart.

Despite many in the crowd being under the age of 18, both Bales and Livingston didn’t shy away from heavier themes, including mental health, anxiety, longing – all shared through emotionally raw lyrics. But rather than feeling too heavy, the show offered catharsis. These are artists giving young listeners the language for feelings they might not yet know how to express.

Livingston and Braden Bales are two acts on the brink of something big, and they’re doing it with heart. As The Story Continues Tour moves across North America, now’s the time to see these amazing artists before they’re playing venues too big for paper hearts to be seen from the stage. Remaining tour dates can be found here.
